ASKA recently befriended me via the IUOMA website, and sent in this intriguing photo of a closeup of one piece of his artwork, along with a challenge to guess what it is.

I'm guessing......the beard of a green-man statue? Or maybe an Echidna? I got nothing.

He also asked that I promote his idea, by giving out his email address: aska.doll@gmail.com and his facebook group: Mail Art Project.

Tripod in Kansas really hates the EFF BEE EYE

Again, here's Tripod from Kansas City railing against FBI aqent Mike Spee. I don't really agree with our federal government on many issues, but I'm pretty sure this kind of thing is inviting trouble. Hope they stop harrassing you!

Serendipity strikes again

Sorry Serendipity, I didn't mean to insinuate you were a perv, the clippings just stood out above the rest.

Her decorated envelope was filled with more clippings for mail art submissions, some of which I may actually participate in this time! Hooray motivation!

Co-incidentally, one of the reasons I got into mail art was because of an idea I had to mail out a drawing with a cheerful message to strangers picked out of the phone book. That plan fell through after realizing that we live in a highly litigious society.

Brent Leopold's squiggle sketches

This was quite original. It kinda makes me jealous that some of the other people I send mail art to respond with originals, and I just can't bear to part with my own, because it takes me so long to do anything. I'm going to try and come up with something original to send to him though, and make an exception in his case.

Pretty self-explanatory. I always like getting stuff from my favorite assistant principal, because it's always personalized, and her postcards are always fun.

Richard Canard, the prolific postalist

Sent me a postcard and asked if the fish on the postcard were carp and not koi. Same thing really, even the same as goldfish. All bony fishes not suited for eating that sometimes produce pretty mutations. Also all fish.

He also asked that I send something fishy to Ms. Adamandia Kapsalis in Chicago, who runs "The Fishy Requisite."

Serendipity's reply

So at some point when I first got started with Mailart, I had sent something out to someone named Serendipity.

At some point in my dead-time, I got this, which was stuffed full of things. Included were 2 cds, one of which was some gay channel shows, and the other was a music cd which, unfortunately, I haven't had the time to watch.

There were a few advertisements for sex toy stores, some very nice postcards she had received from others, as well as several invitations to participate in various mailart projects.

Since she likes sex stuff, I've begun a new series I'm calling "Porn-star constellations."

She should be getting it soon.

Tonia Locke's great work!

This came from a Tonia Locke from Spokane, WA. I really liked the work on the envelope, and even though I couldn't decipher what she was trying to say on the inside, it obviously took great effort, and it shows.

Who is obsessed with the wherabouts of an important figure in the history of Mailart apparently, by the name of David Zack.

I've looked up a bit about David Zack, and he seems like a pretty interesting person. Unfortunately, the concensus seems to be that he was dissappeared in Mexico some time in the 80's.

If you know anything more about what happened to David Zack, please, let me know so I can let him know.

Martyna from Poland?

I got this postcard, which I thought was just plain awesome, from someone named "Martyna" from Poland. Unfortunately, I don't speak Polish, and don't have an interpreter to read what she said on the back, so I'll blindly assume that it was complimentary.

Again, no return address.

Florida State Bird

I got this postcard, again, sometime during the past year and a half. It came from someone who I contacted through a place called "Tribes.net" which I haven't used since.

They didn't leave contact info however, so I won't be able to reply.

Margaret Jedju- Sent sometime in the past year& 1/2

It looks to be a photo-postcard of a Wal-Mart parking lot, viewing the sky, while lying on the pavement.

I hope you put up orange cones around you, I've seen the people who frequent that place, and they don't strike me as the type of people to watch where they drive.

The 2 year sabbatical.

So I've been off slaying dragons, hunting monkeys, and keeping a full-time and quite busy day job.

Now I'm trying to play catch up, so in the off hand chance anyone that was waiting on me to send out returns sees this, you should get them soon. For the one or two people who read this, I'll start scanning the stuff I've gotten in the past year and a half ASAP.
